What every winterization includes

The same four steps on every system, so nothing is left holding water when the ground freezes.

  • Complete air blow-out

Compressed air is pushed through every zone until the heads run dry, so no water is left in the lines to freeze and split them.

  • Main line drainage

The main line is drained along with the zones. It's the pipe that stays pressurized all season, and the one most often missed.

  • Backflow protection

The backflow device is drained and its valves set for winter. A frozen backflow is one of the most common and costly spring repairs.

  • Shut-off valve service

The supply is shut off at the valve and checked so water can't creep back into the system over the winter.

How scheduling works

Tell us you want it done, and we'll send you a date.

  1. Step 1

    Get on the list

Reply YES to our winterization text, call or text (417) 403-6407, or send the form below.

  2. Step 2

    We text your date

We route jobs by neighborhood ahead of the first hard freeze and text you back with your scheduled day.

  3. Step 3

    We blow it out

We prefer that you're home so we can run your control panel and walk you through anything we find. If you can't be, give us remote access to your control panel and make sure we can reach the backflow and shut-off valve.

Winterization questions

When should I winterize my sprinkler system?
Before the first hard freeze. In the Springfield area that's usually from mid-October through November. Getting on the list early gets you a spot before the cold arrives.
Do I need to be home?
Yes, it's preferred unless you can provide us access to the irrigation control panel remotely so we can operate the system.
What does it cost?
Winterization starts at $85. Larger systems with many zones can take longer, and we'll tell you before we start if yours is priced higher.
What happens if I skip it?
Water left in the pipes expands as it freezes. That can crack lines, heads, valves, and the backflow device, and the damage usually doesn't show until you turn the system on in spring.
